My bike is a 1998 Schwin Homegrown dual suspension Mountain bike. It is full XTR and weighs less than 10kg. It is so light that it is a climbing machine.
My ONLY complaint about the bike used to be that it was too twitchy due to head angle.
That complaint is GONE!!!
The ride I did today was one of my favs - a windy single track.
There's a section with a tight and fast left-right-left. I have to be on my A game to get through that fast. It used to take the whole width of the track with some risk of going off.
Today by the time I reached that section I was in a subconscious happy flow state and knew I could take it fast.
I had no idea!!! I didn't even need the full width of the track. It felt like the bike knew what i wanted to do and it just did it!!
I LOVE the Works Components 1 degree slack headset. I thought about it for a couple months not knowing if it would improve the handling. It does - immensely on my bike!! I'm kinda surprised that 1 degree makes that much difference!
